Not much diff locally, highway may improve a tad

On a cross-country run last summer we averaged about 29 mpg (calculated) over 2500 miles. Much of this was running 80-85 mph and included some runs in the 90 to 110 range out in the desert, plus slow driving in several towns and in Monument Valley.
But it took about 3 tanks to get it up to 29+ highway. A few tanks of premium seemed to clean it out a lot. For comparo, the stock ECU would only yield about 26-27 at those speeds, but I never did a long run with the stock ECU-- the longest trips being under 800 miles round trip.
My other '96 has a modified ECU (about 240 hp) and seems to do about the same on highway runs, but I haven't had it on a long trip yet.
