I think maybe it was my post that mentioned beefier relays on the 93 or 94. But since then I acquired yet another '96 that had this problem, and I did the resoldering trick on it and it worked.
I saw no signs of bad solder joints but I believe what happens is that solder crystallizes and resistance increases after years of road vibrations.
Anyway, my resoldered 96 relay is working just fine so I don't feel the need to search for an earlier one.
Can't remember just what I re-soldered but if I recall it was the solder pads just below each relay on the board, where terminals going up into the relays are, and maybe also at board edge where contacts attach - - or was that on headlight relay or on flasher relay, each of which was also bad on my new '96 and each of which I also fixed by soldering.
