'91 9kt manual. It seems that the missing and stumbling occurs with about 50% to WOT now. Previously, you could push through it with WOT. Car won't go faster than 75 mph now. Just stays there, running really rough. When the missing gets really bad, I noticed the tach needle bounces all around - down to 1000 rpm, up to 4000 or 4500 rpm. I'm going to try a new throttle position sensor, but could a bad CPS behave this way? Seems I'm fine in lower gears when accelerating moderately, able to accelerate to red line. 4th and 5th gear is when I see the problem more, especially 5th.
This is not a mild hesitation, but it feels like one cylinder has cut out. It's very rough. If you were riding in the car, you'd say, "wow." Thanks to all responses so far. Keep in mind that it's not the DI cassette or the plugs, as problem remained after changing these.
