Daughter noises!

OK, so the '96 CSE 5-speed in my daughter's hands in SoCal is about to come home but needs some long distance diagnosis.
When she starts it she hears what she calls a "cadunk-cadunkqueak noise" coming from the passenger side. She also says the shifter jerks around a bit.
The lower motor mounts are new, as is the tranny mount, all done by Walter Wong when he did the clutch back in July. She checked the upper motor mount yesterday and it is tight. The front end of it is poly, the back end is the normal rubber but she says it is not broken up.
So I'm thinking the alternator or PS pump/bracket could be the issue. I've had one fail before. Water pump has about 50-60K on it. AC compressor is 7 years old, is working fine to my knowledge. Alternator is 18 months old, did serp belt and pulleys at same time ~18K ago.
She's about to drive the beast across the country and I'll have her take it to a shop for a look, but I want to give her some insight into what's possible. Those are the things I'm thinking of related to the noise... any other thoughts?
She can get it back to Walter's, but it's close to an hour away. Any good Saab shops near Pomona? She's been to a general repair place in Glendora that seems OK, but some Saab expertise might be nice.
