My idea if I couldn't get a good junkyard visor was to take the visor to a sheet metal shop and get them to make two identical pieces of sheet metal, curved 1/4-round at one edge, about 1 3/4" by 3", more or less. Paint one of them off-white and one matte black, drill a few through-holes and then bolt them to the visor where it's splitting apart.
There's a good stiff spring inside there, the problem is it busts the plastic of the visor and tears it apart. Clamping it back together with reinforcing metal patches will probably hold it fine.
But I now have good visors in both my cars and a spare set from a junker as backup.
