Great feedback. I might try re-greasing it for now (it does pull apart) and trying to get a salvage yard part if that doesn't quiet it. Given how dry the grease was on mine, I was a little reluctant to go used, but you're right they do tend to last the life of the car, so worth a shot.
Ben, thanks for the ebay idea - it looks like OEM bearing are actually available, but cost $230 which seems a bit much for a wheel bearing. The ABS bearings are visually different (you can see the cast-in toothed ring). I guess they might fit, but just as likely not. I do have calipers, so I'll try and measure the spindle versus the Scantech bearing to see how far apart they are.
