Thanks, Dick and Jersey.
A tree fell on one of our 9000s and the insce. co. totalled it, then I pulled so much off it knowing they would end up crushing it that they instead settled with me for the salvage-title amount, and now I'm going to sell it to a junkyard for $300 cash and they don't care what I take off it. Only losing just over $100 off what insce co was going to pay for a whole car, and I'll get lots of potentially usable valuable parts, including near-new rear and mid mufflers, also my 4 mounted Hakkas.
I bought a near identical '96 CS for $600 and have now fixed most of its minor problems with stuff off the dying donor.
So now I have till the wrecker comes Monday to pull off any stuff I want that's still on it - - a sense of decency before had led me to keep it a running car, but now I can take more off, like the DI cassette, fuel pump, etc.
Had the hatch open to pull the fuel pump and noticed that in the 35 degree weather, the hatch on the NEW car almost wanted to drop, and that on the one going bye-bye was still strong. Hence my question.
I will watch my head - - have a stick handy to prop things up.
