It's not very likely, but if the three bolts attaching the torque converter to the flex plate at rear of motor were to be loose and fall out, you might get similar behavior.

The rattling-clicking when in Park, though, is kind of troubling, and doesn't seem to fit with either the above or a busted axle. After all, nothing is moving when car is in park, so what could be making noise? Also troubling is the fact it rolls fine when in Park - - that too doesn't fit either busted axle or missing flex plate bolts.

You probably have something busted inside the tranny. Call Eriksson Industries, # at their web site, and the very helpful guy who runs the place will I'm sure help diagnose this with you. They rebuild these trannies and know them thoroughly.
