It does sound like a bad battery, considering its age. However, you should still check the charging voltage. Using a multimeter (can be bought cheap at Walmart, etc.) check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. You should see 13.6 volts or more. If you do not, then the alternator is not charging the battery properly. With a pretty dead battery you would see 14.0 volts or more.
With the engine off, the battery should read around 12 volts. If it reads less than this, then the battery is bad. Each cell (there are six of them) contributes 2 volts to the battery. So a battery with a dead cell will only read around 10 volts.
