I'd be pleased to hear more about how adding the iPod input works, and what kind of repair services are available. I've tried to email saabradio, but haven't heard back (a month ago or so.)
The radio and EQ that came in the '90 I just bought are perfect. I also have the radio and EQ from my old, lost '88 which was getting wonky by the end. (Noisy pots, loosely connected fader/balance rings, punched out backlights, etc.) I'd like to get an aux in added to the newer set and possibly get the older set fixed up first if the price is right (if adding the input is going to take 2 months, so I can use it in the meantime and possibly have it ready for a rougher acquisition down the road.)
I want iPod input, but really don't want to put anything recent in the dash that would mean damaging or altering the factory slots and connectors. (Anything new just looks all wrong to me, anyway.) And I want to preserve the factory EQ.
Is inserting an aftermarket amp between the stock outputs and the speakers possible? Does anyone make such an amp with an aux in (and pre-amp, I suppose) for bypassing the head unit directly?
