I bought this 98 CSE in early 2006 with 103k one owner, NJ Saab dealer serviced car. In Dec 2010 took it out of mothballs after sitting for 4.5+ years on a clay/grass driveway in NH. What's really unbelievable is that dropping a new battery in, turned the key and it started right up just like a normal start and it sat with less than 1/2 tank of gas. The only major issue was cleaning out all of the debris that the squirrels left behind when they made it their home. They like the insulation on the firewall for nest building and they stashed reserves in the hood insulation.

The only apparent issues was that the drivers side caliper had frozen. Drove it 30 miles then had it replaced with a rebuilt by Cardone.

Drove it for less than 10k and went though the pads on the rebuilt caliper with tons of scoring on what were relatively new rotors.

The indie said that the caliper was fine and it could be a collapsed brake line causing restriction in bidirectional fluid flow. So he replaced the pads and I ordered the line. There was no apparent brake drag when this all occurred but I wasn't getting good gas mileage. Also had the ELCD Purge Valve throwing a code for an open circuit at the same time and thought that may be the issue with mileage. After 9k more miles the drivers front caliper and pads seem to be working properly and the rotor smoothed out.

3 Weeks ago had the rear rotors and pads replaced and was doing some heavy braking to seat the new pads and when I stopped the front drivers side was smoking and to a lesser extent the front passenger side as well. I opened the hood and brake fluid had escaped from the reservoir.

Has anybody had related issues?

Has anybody dealt with an internally partially collapsed brake line?

Wondering why heavy braking would push fluid out of the reservoir?
