Did I kill my rear control arm bushings? Posted by sam96CS [Email] (#852) [Profile/Gallery] (more from sam96CS) on Mon, 26 Mar 2012 16:42:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Here's the sequence of events:
1. Jan. 2009 143,500 miles, installed poly bushings, MTC part # 8965253U
2. Mar. 2011 170,000 Lubricated them with waterproof grease, Danco part # 80360. Bushings at that time looked like new. The grease was very effective at making the bushings quiet. However...
3. Today 180,400 bushings are still quiet but dry rotted and crumbling at the back. They've gone from looking like new to crumbling in 12 months.
Driven all this time on NC and SC roads, nearly zero exposure to salt.
Does grease kill polyurethane? If so, then what would be a durable and nondestructive lubricant for poly rear control arm bushings?
