For a quick check whether fuel pump actually works, jumper from bare spot on top of Fuse 22 (always powered) to bare spot on top of Fuse 14 (fuel pump). (Oh, of course check the fuel pump fuse first to see that it's not blown.)
If pump is functional, you should then be hearing it run, if it's quiet, and also will hear the fuel running through the fuel rail and returning back to the tank.
A good easy jumper for this test is one of the leads from a voltmeter, with a probe on each of its ends. Or crimp a male spade lug onto each end of a short piece of wire.
I think the distance between fuses is too great for just a straightened paper clip to reach, but if not that would be the easiest jumper of all.
