Derf is right, auto parts stores will have some fixes: rubber expansion-type plugs, or self-tapping plugs one oversize bigger. You'll probably have to drain yours down and bring the original in to get the right size.

Even some hardware stores have these, in their nuts-and-bolts drawer selections.

I'm not sure about the helicoil installed by Saab that Derf says he's seen, I've had one of these pans off and cleaned it thoroughly inside and out and the drain plug was out at the time and I think I'd have noticed anything like that.

You know, the force called for in tightening this plug is not great, just down to snug and then a little more. Someone would have to have seriously overdone it to strip the threads - - maybe some prior owner or oil change shop did most of the damage before you had it go all the way on you.

If it was seeping, that would have called for maybe a new copper sealing washer. Replacements may have a nylon washer there, will work just as well if not better. The sealing happens not in the threads, but between head of bolt and the sealing washer, and the other side of sealing washer and the flat machined face on the pan around the hole.
