I got my basic 'info' from a Saab Nutter in the Balkans.
He claims to rebuild these gizmos regularly.
ABS sensors as well, those..he claims.. have proven to be a wire /connection failure..pretty well 100% of the time.
In My experiences 'coils' rarely short out.. leadin wire breakages predominate.
Hard to imagine that 'That' coil assembly could distort under anything less than an Oxy Flame. These seem v well built, presumably for the long run.
Better IMO than the DI ones.
Saab 'Geers were a lot of things, but reckless was not one of them.
Back to topic: I've noticed that my 'later' valve had an "undersised" Disc.
Identical valve coil retention tube thing, But the disc IS smaller in the casting. Not explaining, just saying.
Just Rebuilt my 'second' one (earlier version).. yet again.. today... trying to solve the 'sticking' issue.
This time paying MUCH closer attention.
Clearly the pesky Disc became magnetised, ergo the 'sticking' phenomena that completely confused me.
My latest theory :-) is that the discs simply get hammered to death and consequently shatter when they have finally fatigued.
There seems Little probability that these can actually Snag an edge.
Unless already shattered, then it's too easy, but at that point utterly irrelevant.
Today :-) I'm thinking an error in Metalurgy/material choice for that wee disc may be the root cause for their shattering.
I made up a fresh disc from a Dime.. Yup!. Took some serious work though, but as it's of nickel (Canadian)it's both less likely to retain an induced mag effect and one extraordinarily Tough metal, unlikely to fatigue / shatter in any use my pore old car can dish out in it's number of days left.
Today discovered that the New/Revived boost had Blown off Both! of the brass AIC valve tubes from the throttle body casting.
Saab; the gift that just keeps on Giving.
And to think 'Normal' people just buy and Drive their cars.
What?? can they possibly they do with all their free time?
