Workin on the car today with the added benefit of a garage lift. What an advantage to DIY with a lift! Well anyways, some items of interest I noticed while working on the 9000........
- when installing the M3 sized Ferodos after backplate grinding, make sure to install a new rotor at the same time....the increased pad's swept area intrudes on the inner raised band of rust on the used rotor....I had to put on new rotors and now get smooth braking from the fronts
- I planned to replace front main seal behind crank pulley, however upon looking thru crank pulley i noticed no weeping from FM seal but definitely weeping from oil pump cover...I've gotta due oil pump cover oring so I guess i should then do FM seal since i assume it comes off with the oil pump cover?
- the little hatch cover below the right front bumper that conceals a "tow" hook (please dont use it for that, weak metal) has been missing from my 97 9000 for 2 years......big mistake not to replace! all kinds of crap blows in thru that opening going into eng compt and right around the serp belt/pulleys area, my tensioner bracket has gotten very rusty.....
- for some reason the rear brakes are hard to keep working smoothly without vibration, happens in other make cars to....yu can tell vibration is rear wheels by applying handbrake
- whenever you take the right front wheel shroud off check the windshld washer hoses, I found one almost loose...
- check your low beams aiming, I found one headlight way off
Some day when I retire I can spend all day every day working on this car :-)
