Cruise control box caused engine to run poorly

Interesting thing happened to the wifes 1994 9000CS (non-turbo). The cruise control had not been working right (brake switch OK and I had reset it). I had previously reflowed the solder on the control box board and it worked for about two months before failing again. I took out the control box under the driver's footwell and reflowed some of the connections again and reinstalled it. Did not get a chance to drive car as it was late.
Wife drives car to work and tach does not read anything over 1500 rpm and car wants to stall when stopped (cruise control was off). Since the car had not had these problems before I figured it was something I did. I removed the cruise control box completely and the car ran fine. I must have bridged a connection.
I will do the update to this car by installing a later cruise module (as written up on this forum).
