I have removed a pump from a car headed to junkyard, as a spare, and maybe I should have cut the ends off to save as spares too. But I didn't I pried back the locking tabs and twisted the Ls sided to side as I pulled straight up, and out they came.
I don't remember very clearly but it wasn't much to get the tabs back. I think I stuck a small screwdriver in and pried a bit. They only need to be pried back until the fitting has come up a little, till its catch point has cleared the tabs, then remove your screwdriver.
On one of my cars, someone had pried too hard and the tab is missing on one fitting, and it doesn't leak or show any signs of wanting to rise. Still I maybe oughta find some way of wiring the fitting down with a twist tie or something.
