Another 9K died this week.

Last night my daughter's '96 gave its all and protected her in a low speed collision. The main thing is that she's OK, just kinda sore, and will be fine in a coupla days. And as we all know, car accidents definitely have a way of messing up your schedules and plans. So we regroup and move on.
The car is totalled. Both bags deployed, the bumper, air dam, grille, and hood are pretzeled, both fenders are toast, the lights shattered, the radiator, a/c condenser and intercooler appear to be joined at the hip. And that's just what I can see. Can't even get the hood up without tools. All the doors open and close normally.
It's 17 years old, ran well and has 173K on it. It's been a good car. Don't have collision insurance on it or the time or space to part it out. And I'm not inclined to pay to have it towed to my house (or use up a AAA tow), so the tow yard will let me take a bunch of stuff off and then scrap it. I'll get some spares for my '96 and go find something else for my daughter. So I'm making a list.
Haven't had to do this kind of thing in a long, long time. Sigh.
