It was really cold yesterday in the morning I went to start my car and it seemed to have misfired and stumbled a bit then died and I could smell gas. The check engine came on at this time. I restarted it and it stayed running and the idle smoothed out and after letting it warm a bit I drove to work with no apparent issues. Check engine still on and this morning it was around 0*F and the car started just fine however it quickly died after stumbling a bit. After restart the engine revved itself up to about 2k rpm and then as the rpm was falling it quit again. I had to restart it twice and then after revving itself up and stumbling a bit again it finally smoothed out and stayed running and I drove to work with no apparent issues.
The car is a '93 Aero that I just had a motor swapped into with only 47k miles. The TCS CTRL light never came on only the CE and the TCS itself had been working as normal (got a real test when we had over a foot of snow). I have put about 1k miles on the car since the motor swap commuting to work as well as a couple trips of several hundred miles and this is the first issue I have had.
My first guess would be the temp sensor between the intake manifold or maybe the air temp sensor but I don't have a day off until Thursday to get the car in and pull the code. I was planning on bringing it in anyway for a manual transmission fluid refresh as my gear shifting is really tight when cold.
Any suggestions or thoughts as to what my problem may be?
