I don't typically buy my car parts from home stores, but I'd doubt they are of the same quality as the ABA clamps are. The ABA clamps (both Saab OE and the West Marine SS versions) are smooth on the bottom, so they don't chew up your expensive Saab pre-formed hoses from either the open slots or the screw thread digging in.
The reason I like the 7mm hex has absolutely nothing to do with the ability to "get medieval" on a clamp, though if it's rusted enough that might get it loose before breaking out the DremelĀ®. It's all to do with control, and having a 7mm nutdriver (if you're not familiar, it's like a screwdriver but with a hex socket on the end) on it is so much better, as it stays on the hex through all your loosening and tightening with considerably more success than any slotted or Philips will. Every Saab I own gets one of my 7mm nutdrivers in the toolkit "just in case" it is needed to tighten a clamp.
Also, if you are performing major maintenance where you are loosening/tightening a dozen or more of these clamps, the 7mm nutdriver really does save time over a slotted or Philips that tends to slide off frequently.
