Twinsaabs procedure, other issues Posted by JerseySaab [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: What other parts to buy with water pump?, Name Left Blank, Wed, 12 Jun 2013 08:36:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Looking at the procedure on twinsaabs.com it looks like the preferred (or only) way to do the job is to remove the entire pump housing from the block then separate the pump from it off the car. Is this indeed the case?
I have new upper and lower radiator hoses, as well as a new thermostat to install. Ditto on serpentine belt and pulleys. I'll check the other hoses, unless they look very new they'll be replaced. Wondering if I should replace the belt tensioner shock as well. The one in there seems to be working OK, but eeuroparts has a replacement for $68, might be good to do it while everything is apart.
Then there's the alternator, working OK but makes some noise when spun by hand. (Eeuro lists 90 amp and 120 amp models, will either fit? Seems like the 120 would be the way to go.) Autozone lists 120 amp alternators for about $60 less, though, and they're offering 20% off for "ship to home" orders. Maybe take a chance on a "Duralast" alternator?
Probably by the time I get the A/C back together on this thing it will be winter!
