O2 Sensor connector bracket (checking P0135 error code) Posted by JerseySaab [Email] ![]() ![]() |
So suddenly the check engine light comes on, and I'm getting code P0135 - heater circuit for front O2 sensor. This morning I went to check with an ohm meter before buying a new sensor and of course the connectors are in a really awkward spot, down low on the back side of the engine. Looks like the best way to get at the connectors is to unbolt the bracket they are attached to.
Do the bolts that hold the connector bracket in place hold anything else that's going to come loose if they are removed? It looks like there are 3 bolts, two 13mm on either side of a smaller bolt. I did take out one of the 13mm ones, and it is a large, long bolt, certainly overkill for just holding that bracket in place. (I put it back right in.) I wanted to check and see if I'm getting myself into some fresh new hell by removing these.
The wires at the sensor are twisted very tightly, like someone layed the wiring in place first and then screwed in the sensor, so it would not surprise me if replacement is needed.
I'm also getting error code P0125 (engine warmup) which I'll also need to check out. The car does have a brand new "genuine Saab" thermostat installed recently and coolant level is OK. It looks like getting to the temperature sensor and connector is a sporting proposition...
