Duralast alternator - return or fix it myself?

Well, the Duralast alternator from Autozone that I installed over the summer is kicking up problems already. Today the car started having all manner of electrical glitches. I checked voltage and it was down to about 10.5 volts! I shut off all possible electrical equipment, after a while voltage got down to about 9.2 volts and I thought I'd have to pull over and call a tow truck -- then suddenly voltage kicked back up to 14 volts and I made it the rest of the way home.

However, after turning on lights, radio, and A/C the voltage drops back down to about 10 or 11 volts. So... I figure chances are the problem is that the rebuilder used a crappy aftermarket voltage regulator/brush assembly.

A genuine Bosch regulator is only about $35 at Eeuroparts. I'm thinking of just ordering that and installing it in the alternator to see how it does. Or I could just take advantage of Autozone's "lifetime" warranty and take a chance on another of their rebuilds.

What do you guys think?
