It's safe to say I've overloaded my 9k on multiple occasions including for long distances. I've never had a problem and certainly one of the things I love most about the 9k is you can really treat it as work horse without issues. I think one advantage of the solid rear axle on the 9k compared to more modern designs is that you don't have any alignment issues when overloaded so you wouldn't seen any of the problems like the 9-5 can have. I have slightly wider 225-50/15 tires and have gotten very slight rubbing on high speed bumps on terrible northeast interstates with a heavy load and roof cargo but not so as to create a problem, and I think with narrower tires you'll really be in the clear. Do bring your tire pressure up a few PSI (the owner's manual likely has a 'max load' setting) to compensate for the extra weight.
