SAABers -
I had another SPEC clutch break at the hub - the springs escaped from their mounts, so I started to shop around for a better alternative.
I found one - the Sachs friction disc from the OG 9-5 Aero is 240MM, has a MUCH beefier center hub than the SPEC or the stock 9000 Aero friction disc, and is available separately.
Part # 5448436
I'm in the break-in period at this point, so will baby it, but I'm pretty happy so far.
I coupled that with a low mileage SPEC pressure plate, for extra clamping. After break in and tuning, I'll be curious what kind of grip it gives me.
Also, I realize that reusing the pressure plate isn't ideal. I'll let you know how it goes. I scuffed it up with some emery cloth, cleaned it with break parts cleaner. Very regular surface with no signs of hot spots.
SO - we'll see. In any case, the 9-5 clutch is a good option.
