I recently picked up a Nakamichi CD-45z to replace the original Clarion in my 1996 CSE. It's a thing of beauty and I want to make up an adapter harness to install it. The kind of thing a company like Crutchfield might have made in happier times.
I thought it would be easy enough to find automotive pigtail assemblies with the same type of connectors as the Saab and the Nakamichi unit (they are the same type of rectangular 8 - 10 pin connectors) to cannibalize but I have scoured the net for a few hours with no luck, the 10-pin connection on the back of the Clarion being the real oddball.
My questions:
Are these connectors a standard like ISO? How would I describe them to an electronics retailer? Can anyone recommend a source?
I'd like to avoid cutting and splicing either the harness in the car or the leads on the radio but am I just creating more work for myself?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!
Glen
