Saab 9000 will not shut off (solved) 1 Saabers Like This Post! Posted by Nixter [Email] (#680) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nixter) on Mon, 22 May 2023 10:14:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Here is a new one. Got a call on a friend's '96 9K CSE (formerly mine) where it would not shut off, even with the key out of the ignition. Once it was at my place, I pulled the ignition switch thinking that was the issue but even after the plug was removed from the switch, the car kept running.
I dove into Saabnet and saw a thread where this may be caused by a bad brake light ground. Makes sense, but that was not the problem. The issue happened again after a few restarts and as this was running, my friend randomly turned off the headlights and the car stopped!
Long story short - there was a bad contact at the headlight switch back-feeding voltage to the 'run' side of the circuit. Replaced with a good used switch from my spares and all was restored.
Saabs, sometimes it's the weirdest stuff...
