Marty, I had a similar problem with the EQ/CD in my 93 Aero, which is the same system in yours. Failure of the CD eject function was the final annoyance, but before this there seemed to have been a power problem as well because the unit would really warm the CD and would occassionally shut down and needed a break before resuming.
I had e-mailed Clarion about the problem back in May, but they no longer deal directly with customers of Saab installed products and directed me to take it to my "friendly" Saab dealer. I did so, and the unit was shipped off to some repair firm, I recall in Ohio, that Saab uses for Clarion audio systems. Anyway, it took about two weeks and $125, plus tax, but works just fine.
Sinced the trend is away from cassettes, particularly since home PCs allow one to record CDs from cassettes, you may consider one of the new high-powered CD receivers that will be a great, great improvement over your stock system.
