Key not turning in door lock unless pulled out a fraction

It seems like my key is going too far into the lock on the door handle (due to wear?) and not turning. I have to nudge it outwards just a little to get it to turn. It's not sticking. I have lubricated it like crazy and it will turn smoothly with the key in just the right position.
Anybody have this experience and implement a fix?
