I did the head gasket and timing chains on my '93 CDE turbo in the dark with a drop light on a snow covered gravel driveway wearing insulated gloves and a snow suit. The total time was about 12 hours, but it was my first time through, and I was being extra careful to make sure everything was done right. Now that I've done it once I think I could do just the head gasket in three or four hours given daylight, warm weather, and tools close at hand.
