I have been in search of this answer for some time myself. I have an '89 cd turbo and my fiance drives a quieter '96 cs (which I suggested she buy) Her car has different molding around the doors and additional foam in fender-well visible behind door hinge area. Just for kicks, I used masking tape on the window seam for drivers side last week and it was a much quieter drive- of course she thought I was crazy when I opened the door to pay the tolls to avoid breaking the seal. I think the answer may lie in putting on late model rubber moulding if it is interchangeable. I have also pondered Dyno-mat product inside the doors (originally designed by stereo-speaker people) but it seems thin -and I wonder how much road noise it can reflect. Let me know if you have any ideas- and I hope to see some from others here.
