A lot of us have fallen victim to the same silly logic. We get our hands on a tired older car and decide that we like it so we think that using the high priced oils will make our "baby" live forever, magically negating 10 or more years of use and abuse.. only in the adverts Mate.
If the thing made it this long in relatively good shape, why on earth would you consider changing the drill?
As an aside, older engines don't much like the thin synthetics as they tend to leak out past old seals/gaskets, not much point buying pricey oils if they are going to end up on the road.
