The trouble with putting it in gear is that the mounts will absorb a lot of the resistance. I removed the plastic inspection cover over the clutch bleed valve and found a suitable hole in the pressure plate - there are several, ov varying sizes. Put the car in 5th, then push it to turn the engine while looking for a hole in the pressure plate cover. You can stick a screwdriver or other tool (I used an old brake adjusting tool) into the hole in the pressure plate cover and jam it against the transmission case. That will lock the engine. It may take a few tries to get it to bind, but it's certainly do-able. Torque on the bolt is 129 foot pounds. You might have to remove the cooling system reservoir and/or PS reservoir to get enough room to use a torque wrench, although there is room enough to use a breaker bar to loosen it. It's tight for about a turn, then it gets easy. I torqued it back down from below, but because of limited space and leverage, I had to push the torque wrench with my foot to achieve the required torque.
