Harvey, Same happened to me a while back. My '89 has a small grill in the passenger side wall of the trunk (inside). Remove the screws and wiggle your hand around in there until you feel the rod on the control. I think you have to push it toward the rear of the car. Leave the grill off (do not lose the screws) in case it locks again when you lock the driver's door. If it does not lock again, replace the grill. Good luck, Val
