I have a 92 Saab 9000 2.3L Turbo with 142K on the odometer. I have had a problem for the past 2 years that the dealer and my private Saab mechanic have not been able to help me with. The car starts and idles fine. During warmup under moderate acceleration (boost gauge at or below the trasition to yellow zone) that the car is running roughly, and that it does not seem to have much power. Fuel mileage is much lower than would be expected, and only basic boost is available. After is has been driven for about 10 minutes, it abruptly begins to behave with normal smooth operation and good boost (this is pretty predictable). However, at any time it can start doing this again. I will note this as a sudden drop in power with a need to press further on the accelerator. It will then abruptly go back to normal with a need to let up on the gas to prevent sudden acceleration when the power returns to normal. I never really know when I step on the gas whether I will have good power or not if I have been coasting. One other thing that I have POSSIBLY noted, is that the decrease in power may occur more often when the car has been at idle for a few minutes 9such as when at a traffic light), though this is not entirely consistent. To the best of my recollection, this may have started about 2 years ago when the bleeder valve (the one on the firewall) malfunctioned and was replaced. I am not absolutely sure of this, as it was some time ago. Since then, the bleeder valve has failed again and was replaced. The car has had it's major service with new plugs, etc without any change in the problem. I have also had the APC-Boost Pressure Control valve replaced a year ago without resolution, and just replaced both the Direct Ignition pack and the Direct Ignition control module without resolution (this module, the Bosch fuel injection module and the Traction Control module are all separate on this car). The only other problem the engine has are a couple of noisy lifters. I love the car, and it is in pristine shape inside and out. Can anyone figure this out? I have spent about $1500 so far without a solution. THANKS!!
