To see how the the Jacobs system lasts. Coworker of mine is over two years (short time I know, but better than one!) with no problems on his two Jacobs systems. That said, for what you need, MSD may better serve you, being as mileage is last on your list. It was first on my list, though with the Jacobs system, I have noticed improvements in performance as well, just nothing major. Mileage is yet to be determined also, and I may have to adjust the gap to get the best results. Definitely saving money on plugs though, as I'm using a $0.99 Autolite vs the $5.00 NGK BCP7EVs... I would hope the same could be said for the MSD systems.
As to the plug wire fit, I have no problems with the 8.5mm Jacobs energy core wires. While the wires are thicker, the boots themselves seem to be the same size (as are the connectors, naturally). So I don't expect you will run into any fitment problems at the terminals. The Jacobs wires do not fit in the Saab wire separators however, you'll need to use the Jacobs separators. Magnecor advertises that their 8.5mm cables will still fit in the OE 7.0mm cable separators however, so that may be the way to go. Lots of great info on the Magnecor website, http://www.magnecor.com.
Jacobs does offer a boost/timing control unit, but I haven't yet gotten around to asking them about it. Seems similar to the MSD BTM, but by the descriptions on the performance BB, I'd suspect the Jacobs unit is less sophisticated, perhaps greatly so.
