Not sure what the relevance of Talladega test is

Other than its value as a marketing ploy and for bragging rights, I don't know what this test really proves or means. That the car can go 62,000 miles with only one repair in an unrealistic condition which no one ever experiences? Fine. But what does this have to do with normal driving? What does this have to do with the Test That Really Counts: Can the car go 62,000 miles in real-life normal driving without needing repair beyond wear and maintenance items? My own "testing" shows it can't. We have to fix and futz and fiddle and generally obsess over our 9000s. It needs constant attention and TLC unlike, as I understand it, certain Japanese cars. Isn't it the case that certain Japanese cars are the winners of the Real Talladega Test?

Did Saab learn something in that test that they then incorporated into later models?
