Unless things changed between 1987 and 1988, which I highly doubt. Spec is 0.025", or 0.635mm.
Now, Jacobs does recommend 0.035" (approximately 0.9mm) when using one of their performance ignitions, and even higher on non turbo-charged vehicles. They say the rule of thumb for the Jacobs systems, is to keep increasing the gap, until you notice a decrease in performance, then close the gap up a little. Theoretically, this will give you the best mileage. I have not tried fiddling with mine yet, but this weekend will give 0.040" a try.
When I was running the BCP7EV's, I was using the stock 0.025" gap, and always had good performance and similar mileage to everyone else..
Then again, I don't know that a larger gap actually hurts anything, if the car runs smooth, etc..
