TCS components, DI cartridge, BPC valve, and automatic transmissions
seem to be the weak points for a '92 9kt. The TCS components and
DI cartridge are not that bad, design-wise, and if preventive maintenance
techniques are followed (see past threads on these two features) they
may not give any problems. This goes for the automatic, also. It
seems that regular change of the ATF (every year?) will go a long ways
to prolonging this widely considered weak point. The same can't be
said of the dreaded 'loss of proper boost' due to a malfuntioning
BPC valve. This is one of the boost/APC control components that
regulates the wastegate. It's a very simple electro/mechanical device
that lists for about $200 here in the states, but can be found for
$130 in Sweden, new. In spite of these 'weak points' the '92 9000T,
although almost 10 years old, still remains a contemporary sport/sedan
that will keep up with newer vehicles whose price can be as much as 10
times as high.
