If the jerks are at the same time as the shifts, I would worry about the transmission. If you see the tach needle jumping during the shifts, I would also worry about the tranny.
If the engine feels like it's hesitating or pausing, AND the boost needle is right up near the top of the yellow, check your spark plugs. If an engine is hesitating at full boost, one very common reason is the spark plug gap is too big. If the plugs are old, replace them. If the gap is too big (set the gap to the decal in the engine compartment), you'll get misfiring at full boost. ALWAYS check the gap of a new plug - don't assume it was gapped right for your car from the factory, or that it didn't get knocked in shipping.
