CSE vs. Aero Posted by Karl [Email] (#161) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Karl) on Tue, 23 Jan 2001 11:51:39 In Reply to: 9000 aero - what to look for!, Nigel Phillips, Tue, 23 Jan 2001 09:13:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi,
Main differences are:
- Bigger turbo (if by HO you're referring to the 2,3T/200) for the manual model. Auto Aero is identical to CSE in terms of driveline.
- Chairs
- Chairs!
- Oh, did I mention the CHAIRS?!?
- Bodykit
- US spec models seem to include HK stereo, wood dash and other creature comforts...
What to look out for:
- Auto tranny! I'd personally stay away from it, but I know of people who are very happy with it and who very much appreciate the auto trans/turbo combination.
- Regular oil changes and adherence to service intervals is a must
- Previous owners are perhaps the biggest thing to look out for... Who? When? How long? Private/lease/company car? Remember, these are high performance vehicles that really do need a driver who lets the inside of his head (rather than the specific weight of his right foot) control vehicle speed and low gear WOT runs...
But they're wonderful vechicles. Perhaps the best Saab have ever built.
If you opt for a manual: try to get a 97 instead of a 96, as there was an improvement in the gearbox implemented some time Oct-Nov 96.
Good luck!
/ Karl (97 9000 Aero)
