My '94 CSEt came with the Vredestein ProTrac. They're a Dutch make, and they're very popular here. In Holland that is...
They worked rather well, bit noisy but at the time they felt grippy and seemed to handle well.
After I destroyed one of 'em on a curb, I replaced all 4 with Michelin Pilot Primacy, they were half way gone anyway and (like you Brits) we get a lot of rain. Size 205/60-15 on Aero '92 wheels (the 'meatcleavers'), which I believe are standard on CSE's in Holland.
Man what a difference! Though the Mich's aren't a true performance tire, they were grippier (especially in the wet) and worked wonders for the steering and handling as well. Even more comfy in regards to noise.
The Vredesteins are nice but not great, and they're not exactly a steal, are they? Maybe that's because Giugaro designed the tread pattern...
I'm getting Pilot Exalto's on my 94 Aero later this week (I hope, been postponing for 3 weeks now, busy busy busy), I'll post anything mentioning worth while...
