Re: Power Door Locks Slowing Down Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Power Door Locks Slowing Down, MC ![]() |
There is one actuator in each door. You would need to remove the door panels to access the locks.
Is just one lock getting slow, or all? In just lock or unlock, or both?
If just one lock is getting slow, before I replaced an actuator (motor), I would lubricate the mechanism. This is especially true if they're faster in one direction than the other. The best way to do this is to remove the inner door panel. I would also check the connector on the cable from the door to the chassis. A bad connection would drop the voltage to the actuator, and it would be slower.
If all the door locks are getting slow, I would check the connection to the door lock controller, and more importantly, the ground point on the controller. I'll have to check my manual on the location of the controller.
Don't start buying new actuators if all it needs is a little oil, or to clean up an electrical contact.
