I bought my first Saab (95 9000 CS) last March and have had no problems with it since. I bought it with 59k miles on it and now have about 67k miles. The car is in great shape and the dealer had just installed a new auto trans. in it before I got it. Now that I have discovered this BB and poured through many of the postings I feel lucky to have the new auto in it. I would be happier with a 5 speed though.

My question is with a faint antifreeze type smell that I get in the cabin every once in while. This only happens when the car is hot or when I'm driving it and have not turned on the climate control system at all. But only rarely. I have not had to top off the coolant system since I bought the car.
I had test drove a 96 9000 at another dealer when I bought this one and that one smelled too. The salesman told me all Saabs smelled like that. I did not really think it was normal but have ignored the problem for almost a year now.
Can anyone tell me if this is a definite heater core problem or something else?
Is it possible that some kind of stop leak might work if the heater core is leaking?
