have A Saab tech run the diagnostics and determine if your APC is functioning correctly. The crankshaft sensor is fixed and reports shaft info to the computer microprocessor. Internal software uses manifold pressures throttle position and crankshaft information for the firing advance. The knock sensor sends performance information to the computer to prohibit knocking if the advance/ manifold pressure is too far advanced or too great. If you change grades of fuel this smart little fellow retards or advances the timing to accomodate the fuel octane being used. If you suspect timing problems, maybe a trip to Saab for an e-prom recal is in order. These do get scrambled sometimes and require recal. a five minute job.
