Presently, there is just one company that will be able to certify that a non-new airbag is still in viable operating condition. Although the certification process was developed in Vancouver, B.C., the operation is being set up in Baltimore, MD at the CARS of MD facility. The full operation will not be operational for another few weeks, and will both have certified non-new airbags available for sale and will be able to test and certify your air bag. Some of the things it checks for are water damage and the electrical condition of the "ignitor". The procedure was developed with much final testing at the Vancouver laboratory. CARS of MD can be reached at 410-732-8500. CARS of MD is a semi-automated car dismantling operation, the only one of its kind in the US.
