You should be able to get a couple more 115k mi out of this car if you treat her right! The auto non turbo is pretty slow out of the gate. But as you say, you have a 35mi commute, and 32 of those miles are probably as good as they come.
Sounds like you do not have a manual for the car. Would advise you to get one, as there is just tons of information in it on these somewhat complicated cars. Posted back a day or two are some sites for getting a good deal on one. Otherwise, I think you should be able to get one through the dealer.
Ditto on the chain tensioner. Some of the models were not adjustable, and can be replaced with the adjustable feature. If you pull the valve cover to check it out, also replace the plastic chain guide inside for about $15.
With your skills, you may want to keep an eye out for other great deals like this on 9K Saabs, as their autotrannys seem to only last about 100k.
