I've been having my share of problems lately but this one really has me stumped. There's this one particular carwash I go through that for some reason makes my car (91 9000 with 137,000) run rough. I get about a quarter mile away and the engine will run really bad. If I pull over, shut the engine off, it will run alright for a minute and then start running rough again. The last time I made it home after stopping two or three times (about three miles), let it sit over night, and then the next day it ran fine with no problems. I go through other car washes with no problems. I drive 80 mph in rain storms with no problems. I go through big puddles with no problems. The same thing happened again today. This time it started running rough as soon as I got out of the car wash and was completely undrivable. I let it sit for about two hours. When I started it it would idle, but bog out if I stepped on the gas. I let it sit and idle for about 15 minutes. During that time it would occcassionally idle a little fast (1200 rpm) for 10-12 seconds and then go back to normal. I finaly got it so I could step on the gas and hold 3000 or 4000rpm. I drove it home and it acted completely normal. When I got home I popped the top off of the air cleaner. The top half felt dry so I didn't pull it all the way out. There did seem to be a little bit of water laying below the aircleaner box but none anywhere else in the engine compartment. When I started the car it again ran rough, but after idling for a minute or two seemed to run alright again. Any ideas? I'll see if sitting overnight helps and give an update.
