I don't know much about radar detectors, but I have the vague impression that they are illegal to use (or is it to buy?) in some states (which?). Is this not the case?
Also, over the years, I got the impression that radar detectors are like what in the intelligence community is called electronic warfare / electronic countermeasures (EW/ECM). Meaning that the technology just keeps progressing, one side leapfrogs the other, then the other side jumps ahead, and on and on, and at any point in time, who really knows which side has the upper hand, and anyway in a few years, if you haven't replaced your equipment with whatever is the current technology, well, it's as good as useless.
In other words, you just can't buy a radar detector today and expect to solve the problem (if it will at all...the other side might already have the ECM for whatever you bought). You have to keep on buying the latest equipment, into the indefinite future.
Isn't this the case?
